OIC continues what has been a 30 year commitment of many of it’s members to the presentation of African Cinema to American Audiences.
Following the lead of festival pioneer programmers like Oliver Franklin and Pearl Bowser, Floyd Webb, a founding member of OIC, consistently featured African Cinema as part of the Blacklight Film Festival in Chicago. African Filmmakers Souleymane Cisse, Kwah Ansah, Sijiri Bakaba, and Med Hondo were among some of the filmmaker who attended the 12 year run of the Blacklight Festival. Retrospectives of the works of Ousmane Sembane were show in 1988.
OIC, along with Webb, will continue the presentation of classic and contemporary African cinema.
